Mike Huffman named Artist-in-Residence at Will Rogers College Middle and High School
He’s performed in over 150 cities in the United States, Canada, Germany and Switzerland as a musical director, organist and pianist, and he’s coming to Tulsa’s Will Rogers College Middle and High School as the new Artist-in-Residence. Mike Huffman has toured with Tony award-winning shows “Cats,” “Sugar Babies,” “Showboat” and “Little Shop of Horrors.”
As Artist-in-Residence, Huffman will perform at the 85th anniversary assembly September 11 in the Will Rogers Auditorium, 3909 E. 5th Place in Tulsa, and at other special events, according to Cindy Largent-Williams, WRCMHS principal,
“We are truly honored to have such a prestigious musician as our Artist-in-Residence,” Largent-Williams said. “What a great opportunity for our students to hear his music in person!”
In addition to performing, Huffman will become the caretaker of the digital Allen TH-323 theatre organ, overseeing the repairs and tune-ups.
“I will look forward to providing music for many varied activities, and doing some concerts myself on the instrument,” Huffman said. “As a member of the Sooner State Chapter of the American Theatre Organist Society, I am honored to represent our chapter playing this wonderful instrument!”
The Artist-in-Residence position was created by Dick Risk, president of The Will Rogers Stage Foundation and funded by that organization.
